3rd Love Yoga and Wanderingyogilee are delighted to collaborate in bringing you a retreat that goes a little beyond the traditional vihara or cultural immersion. Lee and Jen have been guiding and crafting retreats individually for a few years. From the yogic retreat of silence and contemplation, to spaces where cultural experience is front and centre. Always something different. This retreat is something both of us are excited about. Firstly, because it is in Sri Lanka, which is an experience in itself we both loved, and secondly, we have wanted to work together for a while, and boom, this came up.
Both of us are yoga teachers, with interest and passion in different aspects of the large tent that is yoga. Jen loves her yin and yoga nidra, Lee loves her flow and breathwork. Together, we believe that the yoga you will experience at Pasada will ground and nourish you, and truly yoke together all the 5 senses.
INTRODUCING JEN AND LEE
Jen began Hatha yoga classes, 35 years ago, at a local community centre for the breathing techniques to alleviate her asthma symptoms. She has practiced a few styles including Ashtanga, Iygengar and Bikram yoga.
She eventually settled on restorative yoga. Jen found this slow, gentle form of yoga allowed her body and mind to quiet down and relax and the supported poses let her drop into a soothing state. Much needed to help combat the challenges of a busy executive career.
Jennifer is a yoga retreat aficionado – having attended yoga retreats in Australia, Bali, Mexico, Italy and India. It was while on one of these she made the decision to study Yin Yoga, deepening her personal practice.
She completed her Advanced Yin Yoga teacher training with Leonie Lockwood – who herself has completed over 550 hours Yin Yoga training with Paul Grilley and over 130 hours with Jo Phee, both internationally recognised as masters of yin.
After what started as a dream job eventually left her feeling burnt out and disillusioned with the corporate world, Jen decided to put her yoga training to use. In 2022, pulling together the best elements from the retreats she attended, she launched 3rd Love Yoga, delivered her first retreat in the Byron Bay hinterland. These retreats have become an annual event and her loyal following means they book out well in advance.
In 2023 Jen successfully led a ‘yoga and cultural immersion’ retreat in Ragusa, Sicily. Sri Lanka will be her second international retreat.
She recently completed her Yoga Nidra Teacher Training with German teacher Barbara Kuendig, author of the best-selling book “Yoga Nidra”.
Jen believes empathy and humour are key ingredients for teaching. And that is how she will lead the yin and yoga nidra sessions in Pasada.
Lee has been teaching yoga for about 18 years. Her yoga journey was a bit hit and miss. She tried some out in her 20s when it was gold leg warmers and Police Youth clubs. Came back to it in her 30s, as a form of emergency care for her soul and body, seeing it as a good stretch. All through this time, she was a budding Buddhist, pardon the pun. So always felt her spiritual journey was not tied into any physical practice.
A bad accident in her early 40s threw her off her material trajectory, and into exploring alternative modalities of healing – it was that or a titanium rod down her back. She discovered our body speaks to us. It stores our deepest narratives, the ones we hide from everyone, and ourselves. We ignore the body and its language at our peril.
Her yoga teacher training began when she relocated to Singapore. Now meditation, yoga and all things somatic wellness are part of her everyday life practice, like washing her face, going to the loo. Lee has 900 hours TT across a range of yoga modalities, with some of the world’s current gifted yogis, and years of guidance from some aum-some meditation gurus.
She will guide morning flow yoga and introduce you to your breath work and others as part of Pasada’s Breathe In workshop. Lee has a broad energetic tool kit, from the ancient shamanic traditions of Hawaii and the Wu-Xing (Five elements, which includes TCM – traditional Chinese medicine, meridians, and chi qong). Lee has led retreats Asia for 7 years, but Ubud and in particular, Basundari Retreat, are her favourite. Pasada will be her 6th international retreat.
